PADIC is a P&C Trade Association whose domestic members rely on Independent Agents to distribute their products. We consider Independent Agents our strategic partners and participate in their legislative advocacy programs. One member, for example, matches dollar-for-dollar agent contributions to their own trade association advocacy funds.

PADIC was founded in 2003 because its members felt California was becoming a more hostile insurance business environment. Legislators and regulators are pushing greater restrictions and penalties on insurers and agents, with little understanding or concern about the competitive marketplace or the consumer. Just in the last few years, insurers and agents face new restrictions on offers and renewals, underwriting tools such as CLUE and credit histories, privacy, proof of loss, agent commissions and how, what and where we advertise.

The time has come for the industry, agents and carriers, to speak up and educate legislators, regulators, the media and public about the important role we play in the California economy. This page is designed to help you know the threats facing your business and voice your opinion to your elected representatives before they become law. If you don't, others such as consumer groups and the trial bar will be deciding the fate of your business because they are very active participants in the Sacramento scene.
